You did a fantastic job of managing time with so much information to cover! I also thought you did an especially good job of breaking down a complicated analysis with the ANCOVA into the aspects we needed to know.

Only real suggestion would be to limit the words on your slides. Your presentation was beautiful, but I sometimes had to choose between reading or listening, which can be distracting.

I liked the way... you shared the importance of this study and your concerns with the ethics involved. I also found it very helpful for you to breakdown the graphics you shared and briefly explaining that it was part of a larger study. Your presentation manner is excellent - very engaging and clear

One suggestion is... I think you could really limit words on each slide - this is an easy fix! 🙂

I liked the way...you defined the type of belonging you were going to focus on, defining it really clearly. It also seemed like you used very carefully chosen terms to describe and interpret the findings, which really helped streamline and clarify the presentation. It makes a big difference!

One suggestion is...to work on minimizing any repetition on content--for example at the beginning you broadly defined the term and then gave a more precise definition. I think that's fine, but it's an area where you can save time if you want to devote more to method/results.

I liked the way... your slides and presentation walked us through the subject. It was seamless. I felt that everything was intentionally designed and clear to follow. Well done.

One suggestion is... A little deeper emphasis on the results. Perhaps a few summarizing statements.

I liked the way... You managed both time (you hit Method at 3min) and the complexity of the study, making choices about what to present but not necessarily "dumbing down" - e.g., great job showing results in the statistical model.

One suggestion is... when presenting limitation, discuss why self report and/or Korean HS sample a problem for this research question.

I liked the way... nice, accessible definitions helped me as an non-expert
great sample summary slide
nice explanation of the reciprocal engagement / teacher control
super pacing and speech speed (allowed me to follow and process what you were saying)
you made use of your visual aids to highlight what you were saying and also guide your presentation

One suggestion is... to dig a bit deeper into the study's data to highlight the findings

I liked the way...you "broke things down" while speaking. Giving examples of your talking points.

One suggestion is... Give your own evaluation on what the strength/limitations are (with evidence). For example - "They used multiple sampling. This was good because..."

I liked the way...you defined the key terms very clearly, and identified which were the most important terms for us to know to interpret the findings and implications of the study.

One suggestion is... mentioning the kind of analyses they used to test their research questions would help your audience more adequately evaluate the study with you.

I liked the way... you conveyed your interest in the outcomes - both what you expected and what you didn't expect. I also thought you did a good job translating this into terms for us. You made it real-world and useful for understanding the study. Your visuals were lovely!! Not just pretty but useful for understanding the significant things on each page.

One suggestion is... timing. I completely understand how hard it is to skip through parts of the study and explain things clearly. So I'm not sure where you could've spent less time exactly.

I liked the way you made a logic model as a way of visually representing the concepts of the paper. It really helped and fits the format of a presentation well

One suggestion is -- both for the talk and your own purposes, I think you could do more to clarify differences between: SI-feeling, SI, SI-triggered, and just plain old "interest".

06/22/2018 -

I liked the way...
- defined key constructs in the study (different types of situational interest -- maintained vs. triggered)
- clearly showed research questions and hypothesis
- included visual model to represent purpose of the study
- no redundant language
One suggestion is...
- try to simplify language -- how would you describe this to something who doesn't know anything about it?

06/22/2018 -

I liked the way you clearly defined relevant terms and referred back to how the study's progress related to your model. You made great connections between different pieces of the subject matter!

One suggestion is... I did like the level of detail, but I felt like your time was impacted by some more detailed parts that weren't necessarily as germane to the study overview (obviously they were important, but maybe not as crucial in such a limited presentation?)
